The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China is the state management agency on industry and information technology, including some management areas similar to the functions of the MoIT such as formulating and enforcing industrial policies. The signed documents this time are of great significance, serving as a basis for the two sides to promote their strengths to develop their respective industrial sectors and at the same time develop the cooperative relations between the two ministries.
Shandong is a coastal province in eastern China playing an important role in the Chinese economy with the GRDP ranking 3rd and population ranking 2nd with 101.62 million people as of 2023. The MoIT identifies Shandong as an important bridge in economic, trade and industrial cooperation between Vietnam and the northern region of China. In recent years, the MoIT has continuously strengthened exchange and cooperation activities with Shandong province.
Hainan Province is an island located in southern China, with a permanent population of about 10.4 million people as of 2023. Although the population size is not large, Hainan is China’s largest “Free Trade Port”, which enjoys many important preferential policies from the Chinese Government.
The signing of the two cooperation documents has helped boost close relations between the MoIT and Hainan and Shandong provinces, and also establish an exchange and cooperation mechanism on trade and industry, thereby creating opportunities for Vietnamese exports to penetrate more deeply into the Chinese market.
