As part of his state visit to China at the invitation of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his spouse, on the morning of August 18th, shortly after arriving in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, General Party Secretary and President To Lam, along with his spouse and a high-level Vietnamese delegation, laid flowers and offered incense in memory of Martyr Pham Hong Thai at the Huanghuagang Cemetery Park. They also visited the site of the Headquarters of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League, held talks with Huang Kunming, Member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, and met with representatives of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
During the meeting with Huang Kunming, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, and the entire Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, General Party Secretary and President To Lam expressed his pleasure at revisiting Guangdong Province – a symbol of the success of China’s reform and opening-up process, which has close ties to the revolutionary history of Vietnam. It was also the place where, exactly 100 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh, after 13 years of searching for a path to save the country, set foot to prepare for the political, ideological, and organizational aspects of the Vietnamese revolution.
General Party Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that his first state visit to China in his new role is to discuss with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and other key Chinese leaders the measures to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future with strategic significance, meeting the interests of the people of both nations, and contributing to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the rest of the world. He affirmed that Vietnam always values and prioritizes the development of its relationship with China.
Also, on the morning of August 18th, in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, General Party Secretary and President To Lam met with representatives of friendship organizations, family members of revolutionary generals, experts and advisors who had assisted Vietnam during its wars of resistance, officials and employees involved in preserving sites related to the Vietnamese revolution, distinguished Chinese intellectuals, scholars, and researchers on Vietnam, former Chinese ambassadors to Vietnam, and Chinese youth.
On the evening of August 18th, immediately after arriving in the capital Beijing, General Party Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, visited the Vietnamese Embassy, where they met and had a friendly conversation with the embassy’s staff, representatives of the Vietnamese community, and Vietnamese students in China.
